If you've ever wanted to learn another language, here's how you do it, find a child on the street that doesn't speak any English and try to teach them geometry. I had that experience today. I had to help our of our girls, Nelcy, with her geometry homework. I haven't had geometry since the 10th grade, so not only did I need to remember polygons, hexagons, and all their angles, sides and degrees, but I had to do it all in Spanish. If that doesn't teach you Spanish, I don't know what will. Also, I've heard that people will pay hundreds of dollars to cleanse their bodies and sweat out all the bad toxins. Well, I have the solution for that one. Spend at least one week in Peru and you'll sweat out anything you've ever consumed. Today, I had to opportunity to sizzle ice, on my face. There's no point in taking a shower during the day because you'll start sweating while you're still in the shower, and there's no hot water here. It's insane how hot it really is, on top of the 99% humidity. Just kidding it's not that high, even though it feels like it is sometimes.
Don't get me wrong, I'm really starting to enjoy it here and I could deal with eating rice twice a day, every day, and taking cold showers but I wish it didn't have to be this hot! Also, apparently I was wrong, the Peruvians tell me it is summer here because it is going into the dry season, even though we're below the equator. Peruvians only have two seasons, the wet season (winter) and the dry season (summer) and all of it is hot! I love warm weather but I don't know if I could do this year round. I love fall too much for that. I can't believe I'll miss it this year. That and Clemson football. Go Tigers!
